The Iron Queen The Daughters of Zeus Book 3 Kaitlin Bevis Books

3.5 Stars. This book was different from the first two because it’s not just told through Persephone’s POV, but alternates with Hades and Aphrodite’s POV. While I loved reading parts of the story from Hades’ point of view and even Aphrodite's, it felt like less of the story was about Hades and Persephone and more about all of the gods. I enjoyed getting to know more about them, but I wanted there to be more focus on Persephone and Hades.

I loved watching Persephone fight against Zeus and getting to see inside Hades’ head as he fought to rescue Persephone was awesome. The plot was well constructed and believable. Zeus’ mind games kept both Persephone and me guessing and the way she managed his abuse was believable.

Where I was a little disappointed with this book was that this concludes Hades’ and Persephone’s role as lead characters in this series. The next two books are about Aphrodite, and though I haven’t read them yet their blurbs don’t mention either Hades or Persephone. I wasn’t as interested in reading about Aphrodite as I was about Hades and Persephone. Also, the author left a few threads hanging that I really wanted to see resolved in another Hades and Persephone book. For example, <spoiler> now that Zeus has been defeated Persephone is super powerful and has claim to multiple realms, </spoiler> there was a point in the story where this concerned the other gods and I wondered how that would affect her? It was a plot point I hoped the author would tackle in the next book, but it doesn’t appear as if it will be explored.

Overall this was a worthwhile read, and if you’ve read the first two books I definitely recommend reading this, but I was disappointed that the focus veered away from Hades and Persephone.

The Iron Queen The Daughters of Zeus Book 3 Kaitlin Bevis Books Reviews

Absolutely amazing!!! Cant wait to read the next
What an amazing series! I loved all the sifferent point of views. This is one of the best Greek mythology series.
Love this book. Very romantic, but tragic. I have to say some lines almost made burst out laughing in the middle of large groups of people too. I would not worry about it not being anything but great for anyone looking to embark on this great journey.
Bitter sweet; but hasn't the whole series been a little bitter sweet,
It feels like the author left the end open just enough to have a spin off series and perhaps that's what tritons small bit at the end was eluding to or I could be way off base and this isn't the end. either way this has been a spectacular series!
I anxiously awaited the Iron Queen, and bought it on release day, and read it that night. I have a family, so my time isn't always my own, but at night, I still can act a fool. Shhh. Don't tell.
We again, pick up right where Daughter of Earth and Sky, left off. Persephone is kidnapped by Zeus, who then tortures her in an attempt to get her to relinquish her powers to him. Hades is near frantic trying to find and save Persephone, and Aphrodite gives us perspective beyond the other two.
I enjoyed the plot, the writing was strong, and the story flowed well. The characters acted predictable and consistent to their personalities, which is always appreciated. I love Persephone. I love Hades. I HATE Zeus! This is probably what Ms. Bevis was going for, and so kudos to her. I think it is difficult to vilify someone to the point of having no redeeming qualities, and still have your villain believable.
That being said, I think it came at a bit of a price. I read YA specifically because I'm not a huge fan of graphic anything, and there was some graphic violence- not much, but still some. I do understand that to fully appreciate the depravity of Zeus's soul, he would have to act depraved. He did. And I didn't like it. But then again, if I did like it, wouldn't that make me depraved?
Of course, the balance to human depravity is compassion, love, and sacrifice, which we see readily displayed in our protagonists.
I was quite surprised by the ending. Greek mythology is not associated with "happily-ever-after" endings, but I was still surprised, nonetheless. I was also quite pleased to see that Ms. Bevis isn't done with the series.
I am hoping to see a bit more of Hades and Persephone in the upcoming Venus and Adonis, and am looking forward to a `to-be-released' date!
Love will find a path to take but which way will it lead love or death . This story has a lot to offer it stresses friendships love and family can be what makes or can break a person. What a emotional rollercoaster ride we go on in this book . Heartbreak anger envy fear and strength are present in the pages don't miss this book in your to be read list. So many powerful moments to read about .This book was emotional and beautifully expressed .I would recommend this book and the 2 before as a power packed series .loved it
This is such a great series and Persephone is such a likable character, determined to protect those she loves whatever it takes and sometimes the cost is life threatening. If you enjoy reading about Greek Mythology, then give this series a go as I am sure you will become a fan. Told from three different perspectives, it gives us an in depth view of Hades, Persephone and Aphrodite. Zeus is still on the warpath determined to rule the realms and it will take all the Gods to defeat him. Aphrodite redeems herself in this book though she can be quite shallow at times and her whining did get on my nerves after awhile. Hades is endearing as he shows us just how much he loves Persephone and would destroy the world to have her back. A good ending to this series though it has it sad moments but overall a story about love and redemption.
